PROJECT OVERVIEW

Bright & Bloom  is an augmented reality (AR) app that allows users to give a brand new view to their landscape and outdoor living space.

The users would also be able to buy plants or decor items from local stores, thru the app and also connect with landscaping companies nearby to ask for quotes that match the design build by them.

THE PROCESS

I had a limited time to build this app, so in order to reduce the time and build a workable product as fast as possible, I followed Lean UX process.

DEFINE THE PROBLEM

Users needs to experience augmented reality to give a brand new look to their landscape and outdoor living area.

RESEARCH
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

As part of my research, I conducted a competitive analysis, to see which are the competitors and what do they offer. I looked up to three apps that offers similar products, and I focused on visual design, UX experience, AR elements and other features they offer.

CONCLUSION

Two of the competitors offers only AR experience which cannot keep the users engaged for a long time, and the third one helps users connect with landscaping companies without offering AR experience.

MAKE

SKETCH

I like to sketch on paper first, because helps me to define my ideas before I get into the wireframing stage.

MID FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

After sketching, I started working on digital wireframes.

DESIGN SYSTEM

Why I chosed this color palette for an augmented reality app?

Because I wanted people to feel a connection by looking back at the past with a present-day.

TEST

FEEDBACK

After finishing high fidelity mockups, I tested my app with few potential users. Half of the users were looking to learn more about the plants suggested by the app so I added one new screen where users can read about the plants.

KEY LEARNINGS

- Designing this app was very challenging for me. I learned how to work with Adobe Dimension and I also learned about the relationship between UX and AR.
- I sketched a lot to try to visualize how can I bring AR experience for users  into this app, so I can add value to the app but also keep users engaged.
